Three keys to being calm, having peace of mind & happiness, from the Dalai Lama.

In the 25th anniversary of Good Weekend magazine (a weekly supplement in Melbourne’s The Age newspaper and Sydney’s Sydney Morning Herald) I found an attitude changing article about the Dalai Lama.

Even as a media student (who is supposed to be extra news savvy), I admit my ignorance in regards to the Dalai Lama. He had never really interested me so I skipped article of his subject matter, when skimming through publications.

He shared his secret to calm, peace of mind and happiness; three things…

1. “Look at any problem from a wider perspective… One tragedy, one problem, can also be some positive aspect.” ie – focus on the positives.

2. “Exchange self – centered attitude. Extreme self – centered attitude makes problem seem unbearable. Also, leads to distrust… worry, and loneliness. Think more about others. Open mind.”

3. “Be realistic”, and do not worry because it is a waste of time and energy.
